Should You Run Your PC Fans at Full Speed?Īlthough setting the CPU fan speed at 100% will give you a low processor temp, the fans running at full speed will wear out much quicker. On the other hand, low RPM will give you less noise, low power consumption, and less dust & dirt collected by the fans, but it comes at the cost of high CPU temperature, reducing the lifespan. Also, you must use high RPM if you are planning to OC your processor or using one that’s already been OCed. Somehow, the fan control now works again, just because I installed Windows on another disk!Īnyway, the problem is gone, and I'm happy again. So you see, high-speed fans will keep the CPU temperature regular, increasing its lifespan, but you’ve been warned that your PC will sound like a jet engine. To my surprise, when re-inserting the old disk with the original Windows 10 installation, the fans now works again!. Now I thought I would have to install Dragon Center on my original disk to make the fans work again, or maybe even re-install windows. This made me conclude that it's at least not a motherboard hardware issue, and I won't have to repair anything. I could already during the installation hear the fans working correctly, and when the installation was done, everything was fine, in this new version of Windows 10. What I did was to install Windows 10 on another disk. This is obviously very cumbersome, so I thought I'd do some more tests myself, and maybe as a last resort install Dracon Center if I had to. They told me to try some fan settings which didn't have any inpact on the problem, and also to try Dragon Center (which I really didn't want to install), and finally they said I should contact the reseller and make them test the board for problems. I first had some rather uninformative discussions with MSI support. I have some updates on the issue, The issue seems to be resolved, rather miraculously.
